THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Alexandria's on 2nd Restaurant Review:
As much as we love the Pacific Northwest and the eclectic, regional cuisine that has evolved in the area, we occasionally long for a helping of grits, collard greens and a little Southern hospitality---oft in short supply beneath gray and drizzly skies. Offering upscale Southern cuisine, Alexandria's (named for a town in Louisiana, not a person) has proven time and again to be warm and welcoming, not to mention dark, sexy and romantic. We're in love with the crispy fried oysters and the crab cakes, as good as any we've sampled in The Big Easy. While we're also fond of the three wing combo, we'd like to see a few more pieces on our plate for the price---but as often as not we make up for the lack by downing a couple extra mini-corn muffins, served warm with lots of butter. Jambalaya, seafood gumbo and fried catfish have all satisfied our soul food cravings, but the blackened, stuffed catfish, filled with crab meat, shrimp, onions and peppers, garnished with pineapple chutney puts smiles on our faces every time. Alexandria's is also home to one of our favorite comfort food combos: fried chicken and waffles. Don't forgo the peach cobbler.
