THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Anjou Restaurant Review:
Just steps from Union Square, this wonderful bistro is a favorite hideaway for both shoppers and suits. Chef Pierre Morin, looking to his Loire Valley home of Anjou for inspiration, turns out such favorites as warm duck confit with endive and watercress and grilled steak with perfect frites. Cassoulet takes on a new meaning here: Morin uses lobster, monkfish and lingo beans in a crayfish sauce to lighten the traditionally heavy dish. Desserts include Morin's specialty, Anjou pears in a warm sabayon. The exposed-brick walls, brass trim and pale yellow fabric may look très '80s, but the quiet dining room is a relief from the hustle and bustle outside.
