Whether or not you have Italian roots, the feel of family cooking is inescapable at this dependable Metairie restaurant. Members of the Anselmo family work both the kitchen and the dining room and the restaurant's décor is not unlike that of a family home. The menu lists many standards of the Creole-Italian canon, like escallops of veal in cream sauce with shrimp and oysters baked in herbed and buttered breadcrumbs. If the food is never extraordinary, it is satisfying, generously portioned and comforting. The osso buco is a solid bet and among the many pasta choices the Alfredo is done reasonably well.
