: Awash in soothing gold, burgundy and black with paintings on silk, the spacious dining room is manned by waiters in neat burgundy steward’s jackets. These details, coupled with soft lighting, lend a more formal feel than you'd expect to find in a modest strip mall. The fare reflects the regions of India, with a number of southern Indian dishes and some Indian-Chinese appetizers and soups. Faves include baby corn dusted in corn starch and fried with hot spices, plus chicken Manchurian soup and both vegetarian and chicken spring rolls. There are also familiar curries and tandoori specialties on hand. Other finds include dosas, crêpes made of lentils and rice flour served plain or filled with vegetable curry, onions and chilies, or spinach and cheese. Chicken or lamb biryani flavored with saffron and herbs and deep-fried wheat bread with potato curry are other musts. The menu is extensive, with many vegetarian choices and spice levels that are tailored to individual guests. The buffet, touted as one of the largest Indian buffets in the area, is a great way to sample much of the menu. Indian brews as well as a nice selection of red and white wines from Michigan and the world over are available. |
