Arata Sushi Restaurant Review:

From the outside, it's difficult to guess what treats await within Arata Sushi, but this is not any old run-of-the-mill sushi joint. Fresh fish is the base for any good sushi restaurant, and Arata delivers. In addition, Arata offers a creativity that's hard to find. Signature rolls include the Maguro Invictus Roll, with crunchy spiced tuna, edamame purée and avocado; the Inception Roll, with kani, cucumber and avocado, topped with a variety of fish and Maui onions; and the Volcano Roll filled with crispy calamari and avocado and finished with crunchy, spicy tuna and eel sauce. The omakase features up to 10 different nigiri options, including truffle oil tuna. The inventiveness and contemporary quality of the sushi is really no surprise; the head chef was a student of Nobu --- the token yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño and yuzu appears on the menu as well. That said, there are other options aside from sushi, including first-rate ramen and house-made rock shrimp tempura. Expect plenty of saké to wash it all down. For dessert, the tempura cheesecake is a must-try. This restaurant gets fairly busy and diners can often feel rushed, though the staff remains polite and attentive.
