THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cosmic Cafe Restaurant Review:

Anyone driving down Oak Lawn has undoubtedly spotted Cosmic Cafe, the old house-turned restaurant decked out in bright colors and paintings of Hindu goddesses that caters to a loyal crowd of vegans, vegetarians, yoga enthusiasts and anyone in search of a healthy, uplifting meal. The menu skews Indian with a little Mediterranean and even Tex-Mex, with starters like garlicky hummus with naan or pea and potato samosas. Follow up with spinach enchiladas smothered in cheese sauce, a black bean No Bull burger topped with sautéed mushrooms and cream cheese (or no cheese, for the vegans), crispy falafel or the amusingly named Portabella Trance, meaty mushrooms cooked in garlic butter and served on pillowy naan with cream cheese and tomato. Small wooden tables and chairs aren't exactly the height of comfort, but all the better to practice your proper yoga posture. Service is laid-back, often to the point of inattentiveness, but that's all part of the Zen-like charm.
