Din Tai Fung Restaurant Review:
Shanghai is home to multiple branches of this Taiwanese chain that serves up some of the best xiaolongbao in the city. You can see these soup dumplings being made in the window before you walk in. Both the pork and pork with crab roe varieties are recommended, and unlike at many other places serving xiaolongbao, these arrive, correctly, with ginger that should be mixed with vinegar that’s used as a dip. (Be careful when eating the dumplings as they contain hot soup.) Most of the food is fairly basic, consisting of dishes such as fried rice, dumplings and noodles, but it is all well-executed. Try the spicy dan dan noodles. Service is professional. Décor is modern, airy and clean.
