El Japonez Restaurant Review:

This Japanese restaurant, featuring the entire range of favorites from a sushi bar, kitchen and noodle pot, is a darling with Mexico City’s young(ish) fashion and media types, making a table during the lunch rush an exciting score (unlike at most D.F. eateries, waits are common here). In addition to the solid traditions (the clean, citrus and vinegar-y sushi rolls or the well-above-average hearty udons), we also recommend the more “fusion” creations, like the teppanyaki tacos (available with beef, tuna, duck or shrimp), that combine Mexican kick with Far Eastern delicacy, and taste great with a cold local beer. Diners can grill up their own ishiyaki meat and vegetable mixes at the table. On a lesser note, we also find the service to be “fashionable” in that inattentive, annoying way, an entirely appropriate complement to El Japonez’s Manhattan-style aspirations.
