il Giallo Osteria & Bar Restaurant Review:

After years with now-closed Veni Vidi Vici, chef Jamie Adams and GM Leonardo Moura opened il Giallo Osteria & Bar in Sandy Springs. The rather large space is divided into two areas: upholstered seating groups make the bar area especially good for after-work gathering, and the dining room is set with a good mix of table sizes. Flattering lighting and a respectable noise level enable dinner table conversation and craft a romantic atmosphere. In front of the open kitchen at a bar, chef Adams and his team turn out fresh pastas. Fans of VVV will recognize some of the concepts from that venue, although the presentations and interpretations are different. Polpette, for instance, are three tasty morsels of several meats, including duck, topped with a mushroom and Vidalia onion sauce. House-baked focaccia comes warm from the oven, and is useful to dab into the sauce. Included in the fresh pastas are tagliatelle and a risotto with black squid ink sauce. Want to mix and match? No problem. We ordered the squid on the tagliatelle and pesto. Large plates feature seafood and meats, but you'll want to save room for dessert. Bombolini is perched on a ricotta cream base and a flatbread with strawberries, cream and a house-made strawberry jam. The wine list is heavy on Italian options, and a dozen or so are offered by the glass.
