Lucali Restaurant Review:

The South Beach outpost of Mark Iacono's Brooklyn pizzeria is quite romantic, partly due to its flickering candlelight and empty wine bottles being put to use rolling the pizza dough. As for the pizza, there's only one type, the plain pie, which is finished with cheese and a top-secret tomato sauce (guests ask for extra bowls of the latter to use as a dip for the crust and brimming calzones). You can add toppings, too, such as portobello mushrooms, all-beef pepperoni and hot peppers ($3 each), Italian artichoke hearts with stems ($8), and basil and garlic (no charge). Our version of the ideal pie comes crowned with hot peppers, shallots and onions (yes, you need both), and garlic and basil. For dessert, the theme continues with a Nutella pizza and a Nutella and ricotta calzone. Lucali has a full bar and beer and wine are available.
