If the food matched the view at this mining-themed restaurant, Baby Doe’s would live up to its unparalleled promise. Unfortunately, the view of downtown takes away the breath, the poorly prepared food takes away the appetite. On the plus side, the skyline look at Denver is awesome and stretches south to Pike’s peak in the distance. It’s a mind-blower, making Baby Doe’s patio one of the best places for panoramic quaffing and happy hour nibbling. But if dining is on your agenda we recommend going somewhere else. The beef and spuds are of chainy steak-shack standards and arrive in varying degrees of doneness and flavor. Fish and veggies are fresh from the freezer pack, hardly buried treasure. A meal at the Mine is the rough without the diamond, made worse by shaky service and a gold-digging tourist trap vibe.
