Bacco Restaurant Review:
Bacco has managed to capture the elegant simplicity of Italian food and service in a quiet corner of Noe Valley. The bright, gold-toned walls play against the sky blue ceiling and soft draped fabrics. There can be plenty of leisure time to savor the flavors and talk with tablemates so feel free to indulge in a pasta appetizer like the house-made beet fettuccine intertwined with sweet leeks and pancetta. A spot-on Caesar salad highlights some of Italy's well-known flavors: Parmesan and garlic. Meat lovers will appreciate the thinly sliced bresaola paired with spicy arugula and a drizzle of truffle oil. Daily pasta, risotto and gnocchi specials take advantage of seasonal ingredients. Heartier dishes focus on meats like the grilled lamb chops accompanied by fried eggplant, potatoes and stuffed zucchini. The accommodating staff is eager to give suggestions, including those for wine from the moderately-sized list of California and Italian varietals. Don't miss the tiramisu and affogato for dessert.
