This small café-bakery is tucked away in the Jermantown Square shopping center. Also known as Pan-American Bakery & Grill with locations in Alexandria and Arlington, this Fairfax outpost has virtually the same menu as its siblings, featuring chicken or beef salteñas; grilled meats, including a platter highlighting steak, sausages and short ribs; and a dandy Cuban sandwich. Weekend guests get to try the unusual peanut soup. Loads of other specialties tempt as well, particularly the pastries attractively lining the glass case up front. Tres leches or mango mousse anyone? Beverages include soft drinks and fruit juices.
