The Bards, Philadelphia, PA

The Bards Restaurant Review

: Imagine finding a cozy Irish cottage on a busy big city street. There's even a thatched roof over the stucco walls, and a convivial bar that lends itself to hoisting a Guinness. Go the traditional route and try the potato shepherd’s pie, Guinness beef stew or a proper Irish breakfast --- complete with black and white pudding --- served anytime. Lighter fare includes a warm goat cheese salad with dried cranberries, along with the usual pub munchies. As sweets go, the chocolate mousse with Baileys Irish Cream satisfies. There's no telling how the hummus platter and wings got in here, but it’s likely that the bards pictured on the menu (Oscar Wilde, James Joyce, Sean O'Casey and G.B. Shaw) could spin a tale about it.
