Located in a former jailhouse, Bit Bar Salem offers portable snacks and entrées to eat at quarter-slot classic arcade games such as Pac Man and pinball, or cornhole on the patio. Start with inventive cocktails with names like Princess Peach and Ecto Chaser, local craft brews or organic Maine Root soda, and bacon or sriracha popcorn, grass-fed jerky sticks and pastrami-flavored wings. For mains, a must-try is the Canadian elk burger with smoked cheddar and bacon on a doughnut/croissant hybrid with black garlic icing, and a side of waffle fries. Fork up Walking Tacos of smoked mango chicken or achiote BBQ shrimp atop Frito chips, and poke tuna tacos with pickled jícama slaw and seaweed salad. Finish with cake pops made with strawberry Pop Tarts. The hand-held foods, including gluten-free, vegetarian and local, are designed to not gum up the controllers.
