Located adjacent to the Argonaut Hotel, Blue Mermaid offers seafood classics such as crab cakes and crab Louis in a setting reminiscent of old Gold Rush-era San Francisco. Anchoring the menu is an array of house-made chowders (New England clam, Manhattan clam, California clam, shrimp-and-pepper, mussel-and-sausage, Dungeness crab-and-corn), any of which can be ordered in a San Francisco sourdough bread bowl. Try three different varieties by ordering a chowder sampler. Salads, seafoody sides and seaside standbys including cioppino, grilled salmon and linguine in clam sauce complete the picture.
