THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Bracero: Cocina de Raiz Restaurant Review:

Bracero: Cocina de Raiz presents modern Mexican fare in San Diego's Little Italy. Chef Javier Plascencia, who redefined Tijuana’s culinary scene, helped establish the restaurant but has since moved on to other projects. The two-level eatery features an open-air charm and bustling vibe. During weekday happy hour, guests can enjoy tacos, like the famed beef cheek with onion. Standout small plates include acorn and kabocha squash in mole negro, as well as delicate albacore two ways (seared and tartare). Larger offerings might include cochinita pibil and chile en nogada. End the meal with dark chocolate mole cake. A Guadalupe Valley-centric wine list nicely showcases Baja's vinos. At the bar, a bounty of tequila and mezcal awaits, along with refined cocktails and craft beers. Workers’ cowboy hats line the wall and a giant caterpillar-like machinery piece sits as a centerpiece upstairs, pointing to Bracero's name in homage to the Mexican manual labor program.
