THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED This archetypal French brasserie, styled c. 1890, has just the right pretty décor and notable flower arrangements, atmosphere, service and, most importantly, solid cooking. This is the place for those classics we all love and seem to need periodically: pastry filled with escargots laced with garlic cream, and seared foie gras with caramelized apple and green peppercorns. The occasional Asian influence appears, as in Scottish halibut in a lemon grass and ginger broth. Desserts like chocolate tart with burnt orange ice cream delight. The wine list ranges widely and with erudition. Set 2-course lunch £16.50, 3 courses £18.50.
