THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Cabernet Restaurant Review:
Café Cabernet has lived a long and impressive life catering to Florida politicians and local luminaries. With a 700-label cellar and 30 pours by the glass, wine is a focus here. It's a fairly raucous meeting place, where you'll see local luminaries tucking into a grilled tuna steak paired with peanut rice and napped with sweet Asian glaze, or pecan-crusted chicken glazed with a brandy-blueberry sauce. It's a slightly zany approach to California cuisine, but chef Joe Richardson achieves suavity with his simpler dishes: seared red snapper over mashed potatoes with toasted Georgia pecans, blue crab claw meat and lemon butter. A small-plate concept also makes it a fun place to go for a shared nosh with friends. Many of the dishes are familiar---fried calamari, artichoke dip---but commendably rendered.
