THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Casa Nicola Restaurant Review:
Casa Nicola is a cheerful Italian garden-like eatery with a gleaming open kitchen decorated with hanging garlic, red peppers and bunches of grapes. Among our favorite appetizers are beef carpaccio with arugula, shaved Parmesan and aged goat cheese drizzled with truffle oil; fresh black mussels with white wine and saffron tomato broth; and bruschetta. Fettuccine with coldwater lobster and shrimp in a tomato-Cognac cream is a winner, as is galetto al mattone---boneless half chicken marinated with herbs and aged balsamic vinegar accompanied by rosemary-roasted potatoes. We also like the cioppino and the vitello alla Parmigiana---lightly breaded sliced veal pan-fried with a rich tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese served with spaghetti. Grilled Colorado lamb chops with a garlic-tarragon glaze are a hit with meat-lovers. Chocolate tartufo-crusted vanilla gelato with black cherries, almonds and a dash of Strego is a fine finale; so are the specialty coffees, grappas and cordials.
