Since opening more than a decade ago, Chai's Island Bistro has been a go-to place for contemporary live local entertainment and Pacific Rim fare. As a member of the second generation of chefs to promote Hawaii Regional cuisine, Chai Chaowasaree has become known for such dishes as his kataifi-and-macadamia nut-encrusted tiger prawns, deconstructed beef Wellington and braised Kurobuta pork osso buco. Dinner can get pricey, but for the caliber of entertainment --- including The Brothers Cazimero on Wednesdays --- consider it a concert and meal for the price of one. The outdoor lanai, filled with large umbrellas and plants, seems like a refuge miles away from its actual location.
