THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chef Lee's Famous Soul Food Restaurant Review:
Soul food will never go out of style, but it does become increasingly harder to find. Chef Lees in Dorchester is a local legend of sorts and it looks the part with vintage 50s diner décor: shiny stools, fading Formica, and portraits of Langston Hughes and Ella Fitzgerald beaming on the walls. While Bob the Chefs restaurant in the South End gets the press, fans of things greasy and lovingly cooked give praise to Chef Lees. Each meal brings a different must-have; breakfast means bacon-and-egg sandwiches; for lunch it must be steak burgers; and for dinner, fried catfish. The biscuits, gravy, waffles, and fried chicken seem to be ordered at any hour. This is food that speaks of a people, in this case African-Americans, and a place, in this case Dorchester. We cant think of a better place to come for this kind of meal.
