With Northern and Southern regional Indian cuisines that emphasize authenticity and dramatic flavors, Chola offers a refreshing alternative to the standard curry. Warm ochre walls, well-spaced seating and Art Deco-style stained glass provide a comfortable and stylish setting in which to enjoy the restaurant's expansive menu of vegetarian and meat dishes. For vegetarians, the choice appetizers are the tamarind eggplant, an exotic medley of eggplant and tamarind enhanced with chaat masala and coriander, and the masala dosa, spiced potatoes and peas wrapped in a delicate crêpe. The tofu saag, a welcome cheese-free alternative to the traditional saag paneer, is a standout among the meatless entrées. The eclectic menu even offers several vegan selections, including the aloo gobi, a flavorful blend of spiced potatoes, cauliflower, cumin, ginger and garlic.
