This intimate, classic steakhouse carefully observes all the traditions. The buttery 12-ounce filet mignon is tender enough to cut with a fork, but not so soft as to be mushy. It needs nothing except a side order of sautéed wild mushrooms, a baked potato and maybe creamed spinach, available à la carte in true steakhouse fashion. There are other options besides beef --- seafood most notably --- but they pale in comparison to the quality and preparation of the meat. The wine list is very good with notable selections from around the world and price tags to fit any budget. But forget budget when dining at a really good steakhouse; go for value --- it’s here in every menu section. On busy nights, the noise level can be excessive and on slow evenings, CK’s seems a bit dreary. Seating is comfortable in high-backed booths or tables. The décor is simple but accented with a coffered ceiling and contemporary artwork on velvety peach walls. The staff is professional and polished during service.
