![]() : Claire Allison, baker and creator of the bread recipe that became Milton's Multigrain Bread, opened her dream café, set in a cottage-style, LEED-certified green building of stone and wood with fresh herbs growing about the property. Pop in for a warm scone or bear claw and cup of organic coffee, or grab a seat on the patio and try the rustic omelet with chorizo and goat cheese or a stack of tasty Clairecakes from Allison’s homemade pancake recipe. Strawberry-stuffed french toast means brioche filled with house-made ricotta, with fresh strawberries and dabs of whipped strawberry butter. Quinoa and lentil salad comes in a curry ginger dressing, while the grilled salmon salad is jazzed with tropical salsa. We like the chimichurri-marinated steak sandwich and the warm roasted lamb on grilled sourdough. While the chicken salad sandwich was a tad dry, the Meyer's Ranch Angus burger is juicy and hearty. Weekends are crowded and service can be slow, but the ambience is inviting and cozy, reflecting chef Allison’s determination to create a neighborhood healthy eatery that's eco-conscious and welcoming to all.
