THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Den's Cafe Restaurant Review:
In the heart of BU and down the block from a video store called Bangkok Entertainment, Den's Café caters to not only the Bostonian embrace of things Thai, but also the large expat community at local universities. Den is a muscular and smiley owner who sits behind the register, but oversees all the cooking. The menu has the usual greatest-hits profile of many Asian places abroad, but it gets rootsy as well with dry curries from the Burmese-influenced North (kaeng hangleh), pork sautéed with fresh green peppercorns and hot basil, and Chiang Mai-style curry noodles (khao sawy). The room is bland but comfortable, though the raised platforms with pillows are a nice departure, and there's even taro-infused custards and sticky rice with mango for dessert.
