![]() : This upscale sushi bar and restaurant is known for a lively happy hour and late-night scene, creative sushi roll combos and a hipster crowd. The vision of future food comes from Kevin Aoki, the son of the Benihana chain’s founder, and an emphasis is placed on creating a see-and-be-seen atmosphere. The menu is extensive and your best bets, outside of the sushi that is almost always very good, are the izakaya-style dishes like miso eggplant, Japanese-style garlic (wafu) steak, or the raw preparations of sashimi, carpaccio and ceviche. Décor is mostly Southeast Asian and primarily attracts a sophisticated crowd that prefers to dine with lots of friends and who nurse their lychee martinis rather than throw back tequila shots. Consider dining after happy hour but before the later-evening crowd settles in if you are trying to avoid the noise. |
