There’s a clean-cut look to this two-room restaurant, with padded benches against two walls, odd-shaped chairs that demand an upright posture, and local art. Under owners Charles Low and Oliver Knill, the menu has evolved to become a comfort food lover’s dream of nourishment. Many of the dishes are made with organic, local ingredients. Look for favorites such as deep-flavored braised beef short ribs with mashed potatoes and horseradish crème fraîche; organic chicken and dumplings with peas and baby carrots; macaroni and cheese made with Tillamook and Gruyère cheeses; and orecchiette with house-made fennel sausage and rapini. Desserts include a seasonal tart with almonds and whipped crème fraîche and rectangular Georgia pecan pie with whipped cream. The small wine list emphasizes California selections.
