THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED East @ West Restaurant Review:

When you go to East @ West, try to talk to executive chef Christine Manfield, who was head-hunted to come from her native Australia, bringing with her as head chef Jessica Muir to run this stylish restaurant and bar. Her take is that food should be like music, and have an ebb and flow to the experience. Her specialty is combining familiar meat, fish and vegetables with Asian produce, flown in twice a week from Thailand. At lunchtime there is a Shared Tastes menu; three of us shared tea-smoked trout salad, pomelo, chili and basil; soy-glazed chicken with star anise soybeans; smoked eggplant, asparagus and coriander salad; crispy pork, peanut curry sauce and basil; braised five spice duck, ginger broth and udon noodles; and chicken and potato green curry, and chili jam. In the evening there is no sharing; three separate tasting menus comprise five dishes; paired with a wine tasting menu. Try to leave room for desserts. We tried two excellent options---the Golden Gaytime, caramel honeycomb and hazelnut-chocolate ice cream pyramid; and caramelized passion fruit cream, mango and Sauternes jelly.
