Chic white walls and banquettes, vivid decorative accents and white tablecloths make for a surprisingly contemporary space for savoring a menu focused on traditional Greek cuisine. Mezedes (small plates) like the melitzanosalata (roasted eggplant dip with pita bread) or keftedes (meatballs with tzatziki yogurt sauce) are simply prepared, preserving the inherent ingredients of each dish. The same understated but spot-on preparation methods are applied to entrées such as the char-grilled salmon seasoned with olive oil, oregano, lemon and sea salt, served on dandelion greens. Braised lamb shank over orzo in a spicy tomato sauce is heartier. A glass of ouzo is a necessary indulgence for the sake of authenticity. Desserts include the multi-layered baklava with almonds, walnuts and honey, as well as cinnamon, and the rizogalo: a Greek-style rice pudding with a dusting of ground cinnamon.
