Far Western Tavern Restaurant Review:

Even though it moved to different digs in Orcutt, this is still the place to go for authentic Santa Maria-style barbecue, and almost all of the original furnishings --- right down to the classic wooden bar --- made the transition and were carefully installed. The menu demonstrates a renewed commitment to local ingredients, but it retains old-school items such as sweetbreads, pinquito beans and the signature “bull’s eye” boneless rib-eye. Other favorites are the roasted garlic soup, the black and blue Caesar with grilled sirloin, and a side of grilled mushrooms with any of the steaks. Try to save room for desserts such as bread pudding with whiskey sauce, banana beignets or crème brûlée. The wine list is moderately priced and predominantly local.
