Fortnum & Mason experienced a massive makeover, bringing the majestic shop into the twenty-first century. But it’s all been very discreetly done. The Fountain Restaurant is part of the refurbishment, though it's cosmetic rather than structural. The menu remains a comforting trawl around those favorites. It goes without saying that ingredients are topnotch (after all, this is the Queen’s grocer). Dishes range from grille plaice to lamb rump, from crab salad to Welsh rarebit…in fact all you would expect. Rare teas also make an appearance and there’s a good short wine list.
