THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Foveaux Restaurant + Bar Restaurant Review:
The building’s rustic setting is the ideal backdrop for Foveaux’s attractive patrons as well as Darrell Felstead’s food --- edgy deconstructions and spins on classic dishes. There are plenty of choices: a Thursday lunch menu, and à la carte, tasting and vegetarian menus. The combinations may not always be mainstream, but if smoked duck, broccoli, cuttlefish, duck cheese and umeboshi, for instance, sounds unlikely, you can afford to be daring. Consider as well the crispy pigs ears paired with poached egg and caper mayonnaise. Felstead’s technical training is solid, and it is this foundation that gives him the assurance to create dishes that are as satisfying as they are innovative. The wine list is relatively small, but impressive with a refined line-up of international wines and 23 wines by the glass. The bar has its own dedicated “drinks specialist” and the cocktail list rivals the menu.
