This Atlanta-based chain of Mexican restaurants presents not only high quality food, but also friendly and energetic service. The interiors are bright and colorful, and decorated with pottery, rugs and other artifacts. The basics include good tamales, tostados and burritos, but there's also ceviche with fresh catfish, the melted cheese with chorizo, the beef taquitos and the fish tacos. Menu upgrades have brought on board a chunky rather than smooth home-style guacamole with pico de gallo mixed in, pollo asado (roast chicken), and a pair of shrimp dishes (al ajillo, with garlic; and a la diabla, spicy), just to name a few dishes. Among the desserts, we recommend the churros for an unusual and authentic experience, but more familiar flan and sopapilla also are available. Mariachi music entertains at dinner on Fri. beginning at 6:30 p.m. Various live music takes over Wed.-Thurs. and Sat.-Sun. at dinner.
