Gather Restaurant Review:

On Main Street in Yarmouth, Gather is a community-oriented restaurant, occupying a beautifully restored first floor of the old Masonic Temple that has come alive with tables, seating areas and a bar made of reclaimed wood in keeping with the local, hip and eco-friendly approach. Choose to sit at one of the two-tops or take a seat at the long community table that spans from one end to the other. The menu changes daily depending on what’s fresh and regionally available. We like to start with the fritters, perhaps corn and crab or the apple cheddar enhanced by a sweet onion jam. Fish tacos are spicy and hearty; the chicken sandwich pairs with homemade pickles and hand-cut fries. We’ve enjoyed the salmon entrée, too, and the pizzas come with such unusual toppings as shaved Brussels sprouts and candied bacon. For dessert, go for the ice box parfait if available; it’s the best of the cake (i.e. the crumbs) with whipped cream and graham crackers. The bar offers an acceptable array of local craft beers and a smallish list of wines. Homemade sodas for the kids are always a hit, as is the kids' menu.
