Grace Garden Restaurant Review:

The décor: Grace Gardens is a far cry from fancy, with its linoleum floors in a light brick pattern, ten-top tables draped in red cloths, and extra chairs stacked up upon each other. Guests may enter from the back parking lot, passing the kitchen, or via the front door.

Food: Given a quick glance, the place seems like a typical Chinese carryout with a Western menu of combination platters served with egg roll, fried rice and a choice of soup. But the true gift here is the chef’s authentic Chinese menu. Fish noodles are a must, bringing fresh handmade noodles made with ground fish sautéed with Chinese sausage, mushroom and cilantro. You don’t want to miss the plump, smoked tea duck; order it three days in advance as required. For the best enjoyment, come in a group so you can taste multiple plates as the family-style dishes swing around the Lazy Susan. Get the Sichuan Triple Treasures, a chilled mélange of beef tongue, tripe and tendon mixed in spicy Sichuan sauce. Another favorite is the braised pork belly with mui choy, slow cooked with preserved mustard cabbage. Dessert is sugar-coated donut holes. BYOB.
