Grand Trunk Restaurant Review:

DC is home to countless restaurants and fast-food joints, but none can be as colorful, perhaps as outlandish, as Grand Trunk right off 7th Street NW. Labeling itself as “gourmet,” this fast-food place does offer rather well-prepared fare from a sort-of Indian menu that has, among other oddities, a spicy chicken “capital” naan burger, a bowl of Lahori chicken, and spicy chocolate naan, plus garlic fries and waffle fries. The Grand Trunk naan burger boasts meat marinated in ginger, black cumin and green chilies, served with a topping of mint chutney, wrapped in hot tandoori naan. Good, too, are the various bowls of chicken or lamb or dal curries. Kids have a very limited menu. Milkshakes and scoops of ice cream are available for dessert. The place is jammed at lunch, and finding a seat is a real challenge.
