THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Here's to Yum Bistro Restaurant Review:
Here’s to Yum could easily come across as a "Hey, gang, let’s open a restaurant!" kind of place; it’s small, eclectically furnished, and at first glance the menu seems to have limited ambitions. But fortunately the owners, Rene and Charles, both have credible restaurant experience under their aprons, and there’s a genuinely friendly feel about the place. We quibble over crusts in tarts and quiches, all the while falling for the fillings in such offerings as the tomato “flan” with basil and mozzarella and the wild (actually tame blueberry and raspberry) berry tart. Two soups, one potato-based with green onion and (much) tarragon, another featuring green peas and Sauternes, were perhaps inevitable in the setting but altogether surprising in execution. More complex dishes, the ones that display the owners’ restaurant street creds, have included spaghetti with braised radicchio, mushrooms and caramelized onions in a fennel stock as a featured special. There’s also a Yummy Burger with Angus beef and shallots. We don’t see the occasional male customer ordering the burger by its full name, but maybe if they mumble (or omit) the "Yummy" part...
