THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hibernia Restaurant Review:
To most, Hibernia is an up-and-coming dance club with Latin, House, and Hip-Hop jams for the classy club-kid set. But long before things get jumping on the floor, theres some eating going down. Ignore the Irish name; at least in the kitchen its just a front. The menu skips, though not as smoothly as it might like, between Pan-Asian, California, Contemporary American and New World cuisines. From the taste of things, Hibernia might want to narrow their focus. Duck sausage is under seasoned, as is an accompanying Concord grape sauce. Gingered crab cakes are too dense, despite an excellent oyster dipping sauce. Choosing between corn polenta, pork satay and baked Vermont goat cheese is enough to give a diner jet lag. A new chef, Robert Ahrens, could mean improvement.
