Chef Lee Chai Hall dishes up sweet, salty, bitter and sour at this authentic Thai spot.
Hot Basil Restaurant Review:
You'll almost pass by this tiny boîte if you're not careful. Try to inch your way in on a busy weekend evening---patience will garner big, happy results. Start with the coconut shrimp, a batch of light-as-air tangles atop fried sweet potatoes. Then, dive into the fat-rice noodle dish brimming with bok choy, broccoli and roasted garlic. Finish with six lovely hand-dipped chocolate Rangoon lazily stretched out before you. White tablecloths, chic black-and-white photos and simple yet sophisticated tableware only add to the ambience. Beware: “hot” is searing and “mild” is anything but tepid.
