THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hunan Restaurant Review:
Hunan is within walking distance of many of downtown’s major hotels and workplaces, and will satisfy cravings for Chinese-American food. While the décor is basic, the lively pink and red hues of the dining room, plus several large fish tanks, will make you sit up and take notice. The menu has red dots all over it, which means, of course, that many of the dishes are hot, hot, hot. But the friendly servers are happy to accommodate more delicate palates and interface with the kitchen crew to lower the heat. Standards from General Tso’s chicken to kung pao shrimp and sesame beef are all mostly prepared according to established guidelines and expectations. On offer are stir-fried beef and broccoli, pot stickers, moo shu pork with plum sauce, and dry sautéed green beans. For something a little different, order the whole fish or the creamy walnut shrimp. Lunch features many amply portioned specials for less than $7.
