![]() : Given its Irish heritage, McGurk’s is a potato house, of course --- soup, skins, chips fried in-house, not to mention garlic mashed and ones stuffed with pork sausage. Other menu highlights include onion gratin soup, house-made pretzels, lightly battered fish ‘n’ chips, Guinness (beef) and Irish (lamb) stews and solid, hearty corned beef and cabbage. Save room for the house-made cheesecake with chocolate and caramel sauces. You may be surprised how well it pairs with a dark, rich draft beer. McGurk’s is a local leader in authentic Irish music, and its multi-level garden, with dozens of tables and two semi-enclosed bars, rates among the area’s most charming outdoor patios. Customers are mostly young, often in groups; but even on Saturday night as the band tunes up at one end of the sprawling series of rooms and bars, families can be found meeting for dinner at the other. |
