Karavalli Restaurant Review:

Karavalli has done so well since its founding in 2005 that there are now several other locations. The original, in a boxlike strip mall space just off the Adirondack Northway, has an inviting interior awash in a rich color palette of blues hues. But the motivation to visit is due to the skills of the kitchen, which explores the tastes from numerous regions of India, unlike most competitors that tend to deal mostly in the simpler dishes from the north of India. Here you can experience the whole range of rich, "royal" Mughal foods reliant on meats such as lamb and goat; dairy-laden Punjabi dishes; Kerala finger foods; yogurt-heavy Kashmiri fare; the largely vegetarian Tamilnadu; and the spicy Anglo-Indian jalfrezi. Start with cocktails---we recommend a Bombay gin and tonic that works well with virtually any style of Indian food---then let your imagination, and taste buds, run wild.
