Kent Street Kitchen Restaurant Review:
There have been some changes since The Langham took over The Observatory Hotel. This high-end property in Sydney’s historic Rocks area now houses a renamed and elegant restaurant offering contemporary cuisine. Chef Thomas Heinrich’s menu offers seven ways to enjoy your oysters as well as a comprehensive “raw bar” selection. Mains include free-range pork served with a spinach pesto crêpe and pineapple, and organic Wagyu beef with smoked corn, onion jam and house-made steak sauce. Or choose a seven-course dégustation menu with matching wines if desired. There are several wittily-named desserts such as Tropic Thunder, kalimansi curd and sponge with coconut parfait, foam sago and sorbet, and Drop the Beets, with goat cheese ice cream. To complement the dining style, the wine list features many old-world wines with a good selection of local ones, too.
