THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED KI Restaurant Review:

Billing itself as "an izakaya for these modern times," KI takes an unconventional approach to dishing out its Japanese small plates, sushi and sashimi. First off, it’s located inside a nightclub (though it is only open when the nightclub is actually closed). The restaurant takes up a small lounge near the nightclub’s entrance and is outfitted with geisha pop art and groovy, backlit walls that change colors. Other unusual touches include backlit menus that glow to life once opened. Menu offerings that successfully push boundaries include addictive curry tonkatsu sliders---pork cutlets on mini brioche buns. Vegetarian options are creative, such as the Green Dragon maki. Earthy king oyster mushrooms flecked with crunchy tempura and layered with a tofu version of unagi makes for an exciting and unexpected harmony of contradictory flavors and textures. Less successful experiments include the Fish-n-Chips maki: overly greasy tempura striped bass with coleslaw and studded with a potato chip crust, and "Breakfast on a Stick," where a quail egg wrapped in bacon is overcooked and overly greasy. The extensive saké menu is definitely worth exploring.
