THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Le Giverny Restaurant Review:
Hidden behind a nondescript door in nondescript, local strip shopping center, this tiny restaurant---owned by Frenchman Rémy Kerba and his Bulgaria-born wife, Milena---does the classics of French, home-style bistro cooking with style and comfort. The moment you step down into this narrow, simply furnished space, you see a board with handwritten specials of the day, each designed to take advantage of the markets best offering. Consider the specials first: pasta; fresh fish; house-made country pâté; braised lamb shank on mashed potatoes; filet mignon with homemade fries; or pork tenderloin au poivre. The excellent, if short, wine list focuses on French wines, with many offered by the glass. In addition, he has added some seriously good wines, such as the Plumpjack Cabernet Sauvignon, to his line-up. Theres also a good beer list. Kerba also owns Sage on Sycamore in downtown Decatur. Le Giverny will lose its lease at the end of 2002, so look for it in another spot in Decatur.
