The tables are packed tightly together, and the tin ceiling in this cavernous space sends conversation ricocheting towards inaudibility, but the hefty portions of traditional French bistro fare range from solid to superb. Falling into the latter category is a bountiful bowl of moules marinières, a captivating cassoulet, tender rabbit roasted with mustard sauce, steak frites (of course) and a silky mousse au chocolat. True to its origins, the Parisian bistro stocks a number of hearty red wines to go with the high-fat meals.
