LH Rooftop Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Despite its name, LH Rooftop isn’t only a seasonal space; another interior floor means that visitors can enjoy the luxe experience year round. That said, come warmer months, the terrace is the hottest patio in town, where hotel guests and professionals mingle for sweeping views of Marina Tower, the Chicago River and the Mag Mile. LH Cupola, the apex of the historic building, marks a popular engagement spot. Indoors, a plush lounge is all dressed up in tones of platinum, cobalt blue and black.

Likes: Stunning skyline views.
Dislikes: Aggressive social media fans tend to swarm around the perimeter tables (which are reserved) to capture the perfect selfie.

Food & Drinks: Stylish heavy bites and cosmopolitan cocktails comprise the lounge menu, which skews toward sharable snacks and mains whose ingredients are locally sourced (Closed Loop Farms and Genesis Growers are vendors). Among the standouts: a tartine flight (the ’nduja cheese bread plus goat cheese and herb sauce is a sturdy appetizer); the crispy creamy tater tots; and the apple and beet salad. Tender striploin with glazed carrots, mushroom and red wine sauce is a heavier option, while seared Arctic char enjoys earthiness from braised kale and pumpernickel crumbs. For a dish as photogenic as the skyline views, order the seafood tower. A worldly wine list and cocktails add to the decadence. Note: Reservations are recommended for groups of more than four guests.
