![]() : The long lines at Brenda's French Soul Food inspired partners Brenda Buenviaje and Libby Truesdell to open an additional restaurant --- mainly for takeaway --- two doors down. Named for Truesdell, it's a mellow slice of sunshine that feels as if it should be located on a serene country lane rather than at the Tenderloin's gritty heart. Surrounded by red, black and white cuteness, visitors can feast on Louisiana-bred Buenviaje's comforting cornmeal muffins, stick-to-the-ribs-and-then-some bacon biscuits, sticky-smooth sweet potato coffee cake, surprisingly satisfying breakfast-cereal-studded "stoner cookies" and other pastries --- usually without waiting at all. Also on hand are soups, coffee drinks made with Ritual and Community coffee, and jars of Buenviaje's Southern-style condiments such as ham jam, watermelon pickle and okra pickle. |
