THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Little Kraut Restaurant Review:
Not just Teutons homesick for the Old Country are fond of this slice of classic Germany. Traditional entrées are served in the elegant dining room and there's also an authentic biergarten. Executive chef and owner Dieter Bornemann offers a vast menu of Continental and German dishes like beef or veal roulade, sauerbraten, calf’s liver, the Little Kraut sampler (duck, smoked pork chop and sweet sausage) or smaller items like clam bisque, escargots Nannette laced with Beaujolais and garlic served in puff pastry shells or Brie en croûte on a bed of California greens with a honey mustard liaison. One of the house specialties is veal medallions served several different ways: Romanoff with a lemon-caper sauce, Marsala and jäger with sautéed wild mushrooms, diced tomatoes and a touch of demi-glace and as wienerschnitzel, Tyrolean, piccata or Holstein (with a sunny-side egg, lemon capers and anchovies). For dessert, there's a classic Black Forest torte. Perfect your meal with a real German beer like a Paulaner Oktoberfest, Ayinger Jahrhundert-Bier or Pinkus Organic Ur Pils. Wines include selections from Rhine and Mosel.
